们向来所知的知识截然不同的各种可能性时，所露出的惊慌、恐惧与断然否认，暴露出了当今时代所谓理性的一个重大缺陷。当理性让我们变得狂妄、以至于失去宽容与理解这一理性的基本要求时，也许比愚昧更可怕。
人类自诞生在地球上以来，在数万年的进化中，逐渐以万物灵长的姿态在地球上获得了统治权，自然界对于人类也从顶礼膜拜的神，变成了研究与解析的对象。与日俱增的知识与之带来的力量让人类以自我意识为基点，力图将外在的自然纳入一个确定化的轨道，这就是所谓的理性。如果说在认识世界的过程中，理想的狂妄最多还只会导致认识的偏差，那么在改造自然的过程中，这种狂妄 将会开启致命的潘多拉魔盒，使人类行为脱轨，最终可能自掘坟墓。

1 Introduction
A group of university professors go to their colleague John Oldman’s to throw a departure party for him since the history professor has just resigned surprisingly to move to another place, and they want an interpretation for his une*pected decision. However, what’s more une*pected, after their closely question, the history professor John Oldman announces that he has been an ancient Cromagnon who wouldn’t get old, and has lived on the earth for over 14 thousand years. And he chooses to leave so suddenly simply because his never-aged face would recruit him doubt if he stayed somewhere over ten years. He also “recalls” a lot of memories during his long life to prove his words, most of which are dramatically different from our known facts. Suspiciously and angrily, the professors scramble to e*pose his absurd e*cuse, however, they soon realize that John’s words are as hard to be denied as to be proved. The atmosphere, which was friendly at first, becomes serious and mysterious as John’s words are overturning more and more facts obtained through hundreds of thousands of e*ploration by human beings.

2 Detailed Analysis of the Ideal Conveyed by the Film.
2.1 How the Film Subverts Present Human knowledge


The film first challenges present biological knowledge——a man lived for one hundred and forty centuries, which is unlikely to take place in biological theory. In accordance with the point of view of the biological professor Harry, a man can only live as long as 170 years even with the most healthy body and perfectly-functioned metabolism. What is more, birth and death is regular natural process. That John keeps an appearance and health of 35-year-old is neither in line with natural rule nor with biological common sense. He does not get sick, even in the ancient time when living environment is terribly horrible. Even if he gets sick, he recovers soon. And the most puzzling thing is that he does not scar when gets hurt. All these cannot be e*plained by e*isting biological science.
The discussion on the possibility of forever life is not yet the most astounding, the most appalling and overturning idea lies in the religion field. In the film, John has totally denied God, rewritten the Christian history and wiped out the rings of the holy Christians including Jesus. Firstly, it was not God who has created the world, instead, the world has come into being out of the inter-reaction of many ever-growing magnetic fields. Then, the Christian Saints were not that holy as has been recorded in the Bible. What may hurt the Christian most may be that Jesus was neither the son of God, nor was he was born to save the world and reborn after suffering a lot for saving people. Jesus is John, and as John has put it, he had never saved the dead, and he only used the medical skills he has learned from India. Also, he has never intended to created Christian, he just transmits some conception that he learned in India Buddhism in the west, such as benevolent, forgiveness, mutual help and love. So all the religion roots from the same conception, the fight and argue nowadays seems so ironic. “The message is never practiced. Fairy tales build churches.” This is the essence of the religion.
After throwing the huge bomb in religion field, the film also challenges psychological knowledge, which brings about the most intense conflict in the movie.
